Ardmore Roderick provides construction management services for the reconstruction of the Rockford (M-7) maintenance site on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90). This project is part of the 15-year, $12 Billion capital program, Move Illinois: The Illinois Tollway Driving the Future.
The project scope involves construction of a 60,000 square foot maintenance facility (truck parking, mechanic’s bays, parts and supports services) including all furniture, fixtures, and equipment. This required abatement and demolition of the existing M-7 Maintenance Building, an equipment shelter, and water well house; removal and replacement of all utilities including sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water, electric, gas, telephone, and fiber optic lines on site; site grading for detention, building foundations and paving; construction of a truck desalinization station; construction of a prefabricated communications shelter and connection to the existing communications tower; upgrading servers and all network switches; and installation of new underground fuel storage tanks and fuel island modifications.
In addition, the project involves close coordination with Tollway Maintenance to reduce the impact to operations during construction. Specifically, Ardmore Roderick chairs weekly progress meetings, performs project administration (schedule review, estimates, modifications) and site coordination with the general contractor, Tollway ITS, Environmental, Communications and Maintenance departments.
Ardmore Roderick’s team removed and installed underground fuel storage tanks, including soils remediation; site grading for detention, building foundations and paving; replacement of sanitary sewer, a lift station and storm sewer; installation of site lighting; construction of a maintenance facility and truck wash facility; installation of a communications shelter and upgrades to servers and network switches.
